Selbys the Science People – A History of H B Selby Australia Limited was commissioned by the late B A Selby and published in 2005, in his 91st year. Written by Samuel Furphy, it traces the growth of a family business from its earliest beginnings at the turn of the 20th century, recording the challenges of surviving in a corporate world and concluding with a bizarre takeover in 1982.

The author, Dr Samuel Furphy is a Research Fellow in the School of History, Australian National University.
